When you hear 'setting boundaries,' what's the first thing that comes to your mind? No idea? Healthy boundaries refer to the limits you set to protect your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Additionally,setting healthy boundaries means clearly communicating your limits, needs, and expectations to others to protect your time, energy, and emotional well-being.

WHY ARE BOUNDARIES IMPORTANT?
Relationships without healthy boundaries are bound to fail, whether romantic, platonic, or otherwise. Boundaries help maintain your overall well-being and prevent others from treating you disrespectfully. Healthy boundaries are great for your own peace of mind.
Personally, I recall when I was starting out and had to set boundaries with some friends. Unfortunately, they couldn't adapt to my new limits, and we parted ways.

HOW TO SET BOUNDARIES

3. Know your respect requirements: Understand what you need to feel respected.
4. Communicate boundaries politely: Express your limits clearly and respectfully, avoiding aggression.
5. Stand firm: Consistently enforce your boundaries to avoid confusion.
6. Set consequences: Establish and communicate the consequences of violating your boundaries. Be prepared to lose relationships .
7. Be consistent: Apply your boundaries consistently to maintain respect.
8. Be open to feedback and compromise: Adjust your boundaries if necessary, after considering feedback and finding mutually acceptable solutions.

Example: Setting Boundaries with Unannounced Visits
There's a family member who frequently drops by your home unannounced, making you feel uncomfortable. To address this, you can communicate your boundaries clearly:
1. Express your discomfort: Let the family member know how their unannounced visits affect you.
2. Set clear expectations: Inform them that you prefer scheduled visits and provide alternative solutions, such as planning visits in advance and telling you in advance

PRACTICAL STEPS TO ESTABLISHING HEALTHY BOUNDARIES
